About Langley Moor (DH7)

Langley Moor is a small village in County Durham, located near to the River Browney and the East Coast Mainline. (One of Britain’s arterial rail links) Like many neighbouring County Durham Villages, Langley Moor played a large part in the North East’s mining industry during the 1900’s. There are a number of historical commemorations in and around Langley Moor to the Lord Boyne – who became owner of Brancepeth through marriage sometime after the late 1700’s. Further to the north of Langley Moor, there is a public house named after Lord Boyne, a park known locally as ‘Boyne Park’ (later renamed ‘Bents Park’ and ‘Holiday Park’) and a former mining pit known as the Boyne Colliery – owned by North Brancepeth Coal Co. Ltd.
